This standard provides the basis for a comprehensive quality management system for suppliers to the aerospace industry based on the general quality management standard according to EN ISO 9001.

The EN 9100 series of standards largely coincides with the legal requirements of the relevant aviation authorities, which describe the structure and content of a quality management system in detail in their regulations.

The difference to the EN ISO 9001 series of standards can be seen mainly in the sections dealing with interfaces to customers and suppliers. There are also additional requirements that focus on long-term product maintenance, the sustainability of product documentation, and the special treatment of so-called key characteristics.

The EN 9100 standard is technically equivalent to the SAE AS 9100/9110/9120 (USA) and the JISQ 9100 (Japan, Asia) standards. Thus, compliance with this standard by IFT GmbH & Co. KG greatly facilitates mutual understanding at national and international level.
